PhD Students
Ahsan Huda
I am a PhD candidate and my research is focused on investigating the role of repetitive DNA in transcription regulation vis-à-vis chromatin modification. I love my work but I would rather be a food critic (I kid). In my spare time I like to collect friends and talk nonsense.
Lee Katz
I am a PhD candidate who is interested in Multi-Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) and comparative genomics. I am developing software to aid in MLST analysis, especially with the CDC. The software is called The Meningitis Genome Informatics Platform (MGIP). It is web-based and is located at mgip.biology.gatech.edu. Outside of the lab I try to to cook, hang with friends, watch tv/play my Wii, play badminton or racquetball, or even take walks. I help maintain our lab’s website and my own personal site
Andy Conley
I look at the contribution of transposable elements to the regulation of human genes. Also, I like cheese.
Jianrong Wang

I am a PhD candidate and my research project is finding the influences of transposable elements on cancer.
I like reading and Chinese music. Now, I am also learning and enjoying table tennis and swimming.
Daudi Jjingo
I am a Bioinformatics PhD candidate, currently looking at how the interplay between transposable elements and epigenetic modifications affects gene expression. Down the line, I hope to examine how these same dynamics may influence human infectious diseases like malaria. Currently working hard on my cooking skills and trying to get back to my swimming and soccer. A nice time out with friends is as good as it gets for me.
MS Students
Viswateja Nelakuditi
I am a Master of science student in bioinformatics, currenty working on Genome browser development. I am very much interested in programming, web development and especially in writing scripts that solve complex biological problems. At free time, I like to play computer games, chess and cricket.I also manage a blog on perl and bioinformatics at http://bioinfo-with-teja.blogspot.com

Inquisitive by nature, I seek to explore the unexplored and analyze the already explored…
I am currently a first year MS student in Bioinformatics. My research experience has just begun in the Jordan lab with understanding various aspects and contributing to the functional annotation pipeline in the lab.
Looking forward to a whirlpool of an experience in research… On those rare occasions when I am able to grab time for myself, I listen to music and unwind by cooking.
Jay Humphrey

Hi! I’m a first-year MS Bioinformatics student and I will be working alongside Teja on Neisseria Base. I earned a BS in computer science from GC&SU in 2004. My career history includes embedded systems, broadcast engineering, web development and virtual worlds.
Undergraduates
Robert Taylor
As a lowly undergrad, it would seem that I wouldn’t be an asset to the team, but I think it’s my curiosity that will more than make up for the inexperience.
